I work from my home office in the North-West of Auckland. Close to the rugged west coast I am constantly inspired by nature and the arts.
I am a member of the New Zealand Institute of Landscape Architects having graduated with a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture with honours.
Having been in the industry for over 20 years I have a broad experience of working on both residential and rural properties. While working predominantly around Auckland, projects have seen me travel within both the north and south islands.
I believe for a project to be successful it is important to marry carefully the wishes of the client, the architectural style of the building and the wider site context.
These components combined, also lead to the individuality of each project, be it a traditional style or a more contemporary response. Being open to change throughout the design process is a key component in ensuring the best design response is achieved.
I will work with you from concept to completion on your landscape design to achieve the best results. I am always very happy to be involved and work closely with other design professionals and contractors on new and existing projects.
The design of any garden begins with an onsite consultation. This is where the client's wishes for their new garden are discussed, along with looking at existing site conditions, the timing of the project, and the client's budget.
Following this meeting, a project brief is drawn up as well as a fee schedule. Once the brief is accepted, the site is surveyed, and a draft landscape concept is drawn up and presented to the client. The draft concept outlines areas of hard landscape as well as areas of planting. The draft design is further refined and developed with sketches and perspectives helping to communicate the overall finished look of the design.
When the hard landscape plans are finalised, planting plans are produced which identify the plant types, the quantities, and their size at planting.
